Why does my TV pixelate?
Usually one of four things: a tired or badly-aimed antenna, a corroded plug or wall plate, a splitter feeding more rooms than the signal can carry, or weather lifting the noise floor on a marginal setup. The $120 fault callout finds which one it is with a meter, not a guess — and it's credited against any repair we do on the same visit.
Everyone streams now — do I still need an antenna?
Both live in this house, honestly. Free-to-air still carries live sport, news and the main channels with no subscription and no buffering — and a wired Cat6 point is what makes the streaming half of your lounge room behave. We cable both on the same visit.
What does an amplifier actually do?
It overcomes the loss your splitter adds — every two-way split roughly halves the signal to each room. Fitted at the masthead it boosts the signal before the losses, which is why we fit it there. What it can't do is create signal that isn't arriving at the antenna — that's an aiming or hardware problem, and we'll say so.
Can you run a point to a room on the other side of the house?
Almost always — through the roof space, down the wall cavity, wall-plated where you want it. A standard run is the flat $140 (TV) or $160 (data) point price. Tight roof spaces with limited access are quoted on sight, because access drives the labour and we won't guess at it.
Do I really need a registered cabler for data cabling?
Yes — that's the law. Fixed cabling that connects to the network must be installed by a registered cabler working to the AS/CA S009 wiring rules. It's not a paperwork nicety: it's what makes the insurance valid and the ports actually test at spec. Our registration is on every invoice.
