Who you’re dealing with
- Est. 2016 · ABN 00 000 000 392Ten years of Perth roofs, out of an Osborne Park unit.
- Electrical contractor EC 00000Every install signed off by a licensed electrical contractor, notice of completion lodged.
- Clean Energy Council accreditedBattery storage endorsement — the accreditation the federal discount actually requires.
- AS/NZS 5139 and AS/NZS 4777.1Battery system installation and inverter grid connection, to the standards, with the fire separation drawn before we quote.
- Western Power connection approvalWe lodge the embedded-generation application and hold it until it’s approved. You don’t chase it.
- 10-year workmanship warrantyOurs, on top of the manufacturer’s cell and inverter warranties — and we tell you which is which.
Every quote arrives with the switchboard photographed, the fire separation dimensioned, and the Western Power paperwork already drafted — not after you’ve signed.
What it costs
One base, one rate per kilowatt-hour, and the extras you can see coming.
A retrofit starts at $2,400 for the install, the isolation, the metering work and the Western Power application, plus $620 for every usable kilowatt-hour of battery. Everything below is a flat line on top. Prices include GST.
Battery retrofit onto existing solar
An AC-coupled battery beside your existing inverter, isolation and metering reworked, commissioned and registered with Western Power. The most common job we do.
from $5,5005 kWh usable, board fine, existing solar
Hybrid inverter changeover
Where the existing string inverter can’t talk to a battery, it comes off the wall and a hybrid goes on — one inverter doing both jobs, and one thing to fail instead of two.
+$2,150added to the retrofit
Essential-circuits backup
A backup sub-board and changeover so the fridge, the lights, the internet and a couple of power points ride through an outage. Not the oven, not the aircon — and we’ll say why.
$1,450flat
Whole-home changeover
The whole house behind the battery on an automatic transfer switch, so nothing in the place notices the grid dropped. Lands on the main switch, so the board goes with it.
$3,900flat — includes the switchboard upgrade
Switchboard upgrade
Ceramic fuses out, RCBOs and a properly rated main switch in, surge protection fitted, and the whole thing labelled. Half the 1970s boards in Bayswater need this.

Battery health check & settings review
For batteries somebody else installed: state-of-health readout, charge-window and export settings reviewed against your actual tariff, firmware brought current.
$220per visit
What’s in these prices, and what isn’t. They include the federal battery discount applied at the point of installation — we take it off before you pay, so what you see is what lands on the invoice. The Western Australian state rebate is claimed separately and is not in these figures. And you will not find a payback figure anywhere on this page: payback depends on your tariff, your export credit under Synergy’s Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme and what your house actually does between 3 and 9 pm. That is what the site visit is for, and quoting a number without it would be a guess with a dollar sign on it.
From the street
What people say once they’ve had an evening on it.
“We were exporting most of a 6.6 kW system for two and a half cents and buying it back at peak. Fifteen minutes with the chart and I could see exactly what a battery would and wouldn’t fix. Two months in and the 3-to-9 window is basically off the bill.”
HomeownerDuncraig
“The transformer went out on a 39-degree Sunday. Fridge stayed on, internet stayed on, the kids kept watching whatever they were watching. The aircon didn’t, which is exactly what Longrun told us would happen.”
HouseholdComo
“Another mob had quoted us 30 kWh. Longrun showed us our roof only puts about 11 and a half in on a good day, so most of it would sit empty forever. We bought 15, spent the difference on the switchboard, and I’d have never known.”

Where we work
Osborne Park to the van, and the whole metro from there.
Two crews, a two-day install for most retrofits, and a Western Power application lodged the week you sign. North to Two Rocks, south to Mandurah, east to the hills — and we’ll tell you honestly if you’re far enough out that a local sparky is the better call.

Mandurah, the Hills and the outer corridors by arrangement. A battery is a two-day job plus a commissioning visit and whatever Western Power asks for afterwards — if that drive doesn’t make sense for you, we’ll say so rather than pad the quote for travel.
Book a site visit
Tell us what your evening looks like and we’ll size it honestly.
If you’ve run the Day above, hit “Send this configuration through” and it lands in the box for you. Bring a recent bill if you have one — the interval data on it is worth more than anything we can guess.
Asked every week
Six questions we get before anyone books a visit.
What does a battery actually save in WA?
It saves you the difference between what you get paid to export and what you pay to import. Under Synergy’s Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme that gap is the whole argument: exporting in the middle of the day earns a couple of cents, and buying the same energy back between 3 and 9 pm costs many times that. A battery moves your own solar across that gap instead of selling it cheap and renting it back dear.
So the saving is set by three things — your tariff, how much surplus your roof actually makes, and what your house does after 3 pm. That is why there is no payback figure on this page. We can compute it accurately from one quarter of your interval data in about ten minutes, and we’d rather do that than print a number that flatters us.
How big a battery does my evening need — and why does bigger stop helping?
Run the Day above and push the capacity up. Somewhere around 11 and a half kilowatt-hours the coverage time stops moving, and the chart starts hatching the top of the battery. That’s not a bug in the drawing — it’s the honest answer.
A battery can only store what your roof gives it after the house has taken its share, and on an average Perth day a typical 6.6 kW system puts about 11.5 kWh into a battery. Buy 30 kWh and, on solar alone, the top 18.5 kWh never fills. It costs money, it takes wall space, and it does nothing. The exception is charging off-peak from the grid overnight, which is a real strategy for a house with no solar — pick “No solar” on the Day and the chart changes shape to show it.
Will it keep the lights on in a blackout? What does “essential circuits” mean?
Only if you buy backup. A plain grid-tied battery shuts down in an outage along with your solar — that’s a safety requirement under AS/NZS 4777.1, so nobody working on the network gets hurt by your roof.
Essential circuits ($1,450) is a backup sub-board and a changeover: the fridge, lights, internet, a few power points, typically the gas hot water controller. Not the oven, not ducted aircon, not the pool pump — a 5 kW battery inverter will not start a compressor and pretending otherwise is how people end up furious in a heatwave. Whole-home changeover ($3,900) puts the entire house behind an automatic transfer switch, and because it lands on the main switch it always brings the switchboard upgrade with it.
Will my existing inverter work with a battery?
Often, yes. An AC-coupled battery sits beside your existing inverter with its own battery inverter and doesn’t care much what brand your solar is — that’s the $0 “inverter compatible” path, and it’s the most common retrofit we do.
Where it doesn’t work is an old or proprietary string inverter that can’t coexist cleanly, or one that’s near the end of its life anyway. Then the honest answer is a hybrid changeover (+$2,150): the string inverter comes off the wall, one hybrid does solar and battery, and you’ve got one thing to fail instead of two. Send us the make and model and we’ll tell you which side of the line you’re on before anyone visits.
What about the rebates — and who claims them?
The federal battery discount is applied by us at the point of installation. It comes off the price you see on this page before you pay anything, so the figures on the Day are already net of it — you don’t claim it and you don’t wait for it.
The Western Australian state rebate is separate, is claimed on its own terms, and is not included in any figure on this page. We’ll tell you what’s current, what your eligibility looks like and exactly what paperwork it needs on the day we visit — but we won’t bake somebody else’s scheme into our quote and then blame them when it changes.
How long does it take, and what does Western Power need?
Two days on site for most retrofits, plus a commissioning visit once it’s energised. A switchboard upgrade adds most of a day. A whole-home changeover adds a day on top of that.
Before any of it, an embedded generation connection application goes to Western Power — we lodge it, we chase it, and we don’t start until it’s approved. Approval is usually a couple of weeks for a normal metro property; it takes longer where the local network is constrained or where the total inverter capacity is above the standard limits. Install work is done under our electrical contractor licence to AS/NZS 5139 and AS/NZS 4777.1, and a notice of completion is lodged when we’re done.
This is a demonstration build by Sapience Analytics. Want one pointed at your customers?
Longrun isn’t a real business — the page is. Every figure on it is computed live from a model we wrote down before we wrote any code, including the part where the answer stops improving. That’s exactly how we’d build yours: your rates, your assumptions, your honest limits, and a tool your customers actually finish.
