Brewery & taproom · Bassendean

Functions at a working Bassendean brewery — barrel room, taproom floor or the whole venue, 20 to 120 guests.

Birthdays, work dos and long-table weddings on the floor where the beer is made. Tasting paddles, shared feasts and a walk past the kettle — set your night on the booker, read the estimate off the chalkboard, then ask us about a date.

Three ways to take the room

Barrel room, taproom floor, or pull the doors and take the lot.

Every space sits inside the working brewery — the kettle steams behind the glass whichever end you book. Room fees hold the space; the package is priced a head.

Seats up to 40

The barrel room

The quiet end, walled with barrels of sour and stout on oak. Two long tables, its own pendant, a door to the beer garden. The 40th-birthday room.

Sun–Thu$200Fri–Sat$350

Seats up to 80

The taproom floor

Three long tables in front of the bar and the eight taps, the kettle lit behind glass. The taproom keeps trading around you on Sun–Thu; on Fri–Sat the floor is yours.

Sun–Thu$450Fri–Sat$700

Seats up to 120

The whole venue

Both ends, both pendants, the bar to yourselves. Wedding feasts and end-of-year parties. On Fri–Sat nights a $6,000 minimum spend applies to the package line — we say so up front.

Sun–Thu$1,000Fri–Sat$1,500

What we charge

Honest anchors, priced a head or flat — the booker above uses exactly these.

Every "from" figure is a Sun–Thu night at 20 guests on paddle & platters with no extras. Weekend room fees and the weekend whole-venue minimum are in the FAQ and on the booker, not in the fine print.

Barrel room functions

Up to 40 guests at two long tables under the barrels — the 40th, the engagement, the small team dinner.

from $1,100 20 guests · Sun–Thu

Taproom floor functions

Up to 80 at three tables in front of the eight taps. Weeknights the taproom trades around you; weekends the floor is yours.

from $1,350 20 guests · Sun–Thu

Whole-venue hire

Up to 120 across both ends with the bar to yourselves. Fri–Sat nights carry a $6,000 minimum spend on the package line.

from $1,900 20 guests · Sun–Thu

Paddle & platters

Two hours: a four-glass tasting paddle to start, shared platters from the kitchen, then the bar on consumption.

$45 a head

Brewer's table

Three-hour drinks package on the core taps, house wine and softs, with a shared feast — bowls down the middle, no plating queue.

$65 a head

Long table

Four-hour drinks package including the seasonal taps, and a plated three-course feast with candles down the table.

$85 a head

Brewery tour & paddle

Twenty minutes past the mill, the kettle and the fermenters with whoever brewed that week, and a paddle in hand.

$15 a head

Live acoustic set

One of four local players we rate — a stool, a mic and two forty-minute sets, pitched under the conversation, not over it.

$450 flat

From the floor

Three nights we'd do again tomorrow.

★★★★★
Forty of us in the barrel room for Dad's 40th. The tour was the surprise hit — he still talks about the kettle — and the feast kept coming long after we'd stopped counting bowls.
Priya & TomGuildford · barrel room, brewer's table
★★★★★
Office Christmas party for 70 on the floor. The minimum spend was explained before we'd asked, the paddles kept the non-beer people happy, and nobody had to find a taxi rank — Bassendean station is a walk.
MarcusMidland · taproom floor, paddle & platters
★★★★★
Long-table wedding feast for 110, whole venue, candles down both ends. The acoustic set was pitched perfectly and the crew ran the room like they'd done a hundred — which, it turns out, they have.

Where we are

On the bend of the Swan at Bassendean — a short run from Guildford, Midland and Maylands.

Bassendean station is a seven-minute walk; the Guildford Road buses stop out the front. Most of our function crowds come from these suburbs, and most of them know the taproom already.

Asked at the bar

The questions every function organiser rings with.

Is there a minimum spend?

Only one, and only on weekends for the whole venue. Friday and Saturday whole-venue bookings carry a $6,000 minimum spend on the package line — if your guests × package comes to less, the package is billed at $6,000 and the gap becomes a bar tab on the night. No minimum on Sun–Thu, none in the barrel room or on the taproom floor, and the room fee, tour and acoustic set always sit outside it. The booker says so the moment it applies.

What about public holidays?

Quoted. Public-holiday dates carry penalty rates for the crew, so we price them by hand once we know the date and the package — ring us and we'll have a figure back the same day rather than guess one here.

Can we bring a cake, and decorate?

Yes and yes — no cakeage. Bring the cake, we'll plate and serve it with the feast. Decorate the tables as you like; we ask for no confetti or glitter on the floor (it finds the drains) and nothing pinned to the barrels.

Can kids come?

Yes, until 8 pm in the barrel room and on the taproom floor. Whole-venue functions can run later with kids if the event is private and we know in advance — mention it on the enquiry and we'll plan the floor around it.

Do you do vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free?

Every package, every time. Flag the count on the enquiry — the kitchen plans the feast by the numbers — and we'll run a gluten-free paddle alongside the standard one.

What's a tasting paddle?

A timber board with four 150 ml glasses — our core lager, pale, red and stout by default, or whatever's seasonal on the eight taps that week. It's how we open every function and how the tour ends.

Enquire about a date

Tell us the night. We'll hold it while we talk.

The booker fills in the space, guests, package and extras; you add the date and who you are. No deposit on the enquiry — we pencil the date and ring to confirm.

We'd get back to you within one business day with the estimate confirmed and the date pencilled in. Nothing is locked until we've spoken.
