Est. 2011 · every deck handed over oiled, swept and square

Priced from the tape, not the brochure. Decking is $340–$560 a square metre supplied and installed, by timber — the planner does the arithmetic in the open.

Small jobs welcome. Doors from $160 hung, skirting from $14 a lineal metre — the ute carries more than decking boards.

Reviews

Word of mouth, written down

★★★★★

"The deck went down in late November and survived an Australia Day party of forty-three people, two eskies and a borrowed jukebox. Not a board has moved."

Sharon M — Karrinyup

★★★★★

"Seventeen internal doors. Every one of them stuck, scraped or swung open on its own. Two days later they all close with that soft click you get in display homes."

Priya N — Morley

★★★★★

"We asked for a balustrade that wouldn't block the pool from the kitchen window. From the sink you honestly can't see the wire — just the deck and the water."

Craig & Dana W — Sorrento

FAQ

Asked at every site measure

Treated pine, composite or jarrah — what's the honest difference?

Pine is the budget workhorse: takes stain well, needs oiling, dents easier — $340/m² installed. Composite costs more up front ($480/m²), never needs oil and won't splinter, but it can't be sanded back and reads slightly flat next to real timber. Jarrah ($560/m²) is the premium: dense, deep red, ages to silver if you let it — the deck people put their hand on. There's no wrong answer, only a right one for your budget and your appetite for maintenance.

Does a deck need council approval?

Usually not: most low freestanding decks under 500 mm off the ground are exempt development in WA. Anything higher, attached to the house, or near a boundary can need approval — rules differ by council, so check yours. We flag it at the site measure and won't build what would need to come down.

How long does a 12 m² deck take?

Two to three days once materials are on site: day one is footings and joists, day two is boards, day three is trim, oil and cleanup. Weather and access can stretch it — we tell you before it does.

Can you do the framing only, if I want to lay the boards myself?

Happily — plenty of handy owners lay their own boards on our frame. Framing-only work is quoted from your site and drawings rather than priced in the planner, because footings and levels vary too much for a fair flat rate.

When should I re-oil the deck?

Hardwood decks want oil every 12–18 months in Perth sun — sooner if it faces west. Pine similar; composite never. Quick test: drip water on a board. If it soaks in instead of beading, it's time. Every new Jarrahline deck is handed over with its first coat done.
