Container cartage · Fremantle to your door

Your box off the wharf and on your slab — Fremantle to Kwinana.

Side-loaders and skel trailers out of Hazelmere — same day where the slot allows.

Since 2011 · 14 trucks · 46 containers a day Mon–Fri 5am–5pm, Sat by arrangement

  • We book the slot on our own account and send you the delivery window in writing, before a truck moves.
  • Wharf, port, slot, empty-park and detention charges go through at cost — on the shipping line’s own paperwork, never marked up, and never quoted here as a number we cannot stand behind.
  • Our own side-loaders and a Hazelmere yard, so a site that is not ready is a storage line, not a wasted delivery.

What a run costs, before you ring

Our cartage, ex GST, wharf to door. Wharf, port, slot-booking, empty-park and detention charges are separate and passed through at cost — there is no figure for them anywhere on this page, because they move.

Change the job

Container

A high cube is the same price as a 40. It changes what fits under — your roller door, your awning, the branch over the driveway — not what you pay. We checked it against all 36 combinations on this estimate: not one of them moves.

Delivery zone
How it comes off

This estimate covers our cartage. Wharf and port charges, the slot booking, the empty-park fee and any shipping-line detention are billed to you at cost on the actual invoice line — we do not publish a figure for any of them here, because they move and we will not print a number we cannot stand behind.

Four things happen, in this order

Most first-time importers ring us because nobody has told them what actually happens between the ship and the slab. This is it.

01

Send the number

Container number and the release from your forwarder. We check the box is available and tell you the same day if it is not.

02

We book the slot

Booked on our account at the wharf. You get the delivery window in writing before a truck moves, not a phone call on the morning.

03

It lands where you want it

Live off the back with your forklift, lifted off by side-loader, or the trailer stays overnight and you unload in your own time.

04

The empty goes back

We book the empty return before the box lands, so it is not sitting at your place while somebody works out where it goes.

Why importers move their cartage to us

Fourteen trucks

A missed slot is a re-book, not a lost day. We are not sub-contracting your box to whoever answers the phone.

We price cartage, not the wharf

Wharf, port, slot, empty-park and detention charges reach you as the actual invoice line, at cost. No handling margin buried in a line item called “port fees”.

Our own side-loaders

If your site has firm level ground and clear overhead, you do not need a forklift, a crane or a yard crew standing around waiting for us.

A yard at Hazelmere

Site not ready? The box waits with us from $9 a day. Shipping-line detention still runs — that is between you and the line, and we tell you the date it starts.

What the people who book us say

Demonstration copy for a fictional business. On a real build these are your Google reviews, pulled live.

“Three 40s a week off Fremantle and the only time I hear from Sidelift is when they send the window. First mob who put the slot in writing instead of ringing me at six in the morning.”

Operations managerHomewares importer, Welshpool

“I book cartage for clients who have never seen a container in their lives. Sidelift walks them through the unload before the box moves, so nothing turns up at a site that cannot take it.”

Freight forwarderPerth Airport

“We cannot get a side-loader across our yard, so they drop the trailer at four and collect it next morning. It costs us $120 and it saves us half a day of casuals standing around.”

Warehouse managerDistribution site, Canning Vale

Four zones, priced off the wharf

Zones are distance bands out from Fremantle, not council boundaries. If your suburb is not on the map, ring us — it is almost certainly in one of these four.

What we get asked

What do you need from me to book a run?
Four things: the container number, the release or delivery order from your shipping line or forwarder, the delivery address and a site contact, and how it is coming off — live with your forklift, on our side-loader, or dropped overnight. If you only have the number so far, send that and we will chase the rest.
What if my site cannot take a side-loader?
A side-loader needs firm level ground beside the truck and nothing overhead. If your yard is soft, tight or under a canopy, we do it live — you unload off the back with a forklift while the driver waits — or we drop the trailer overnight for $120 and you take your time. We ask about this before the box moves, not on the day.
Who books the wharf slot?
We do, on our own account. The slot-booking charge, and any wharf or port charge that comes with it, is passed through to you at cost on the actual invoice line. We do not publish a figure for it on this page: those charges are set by the terminal, not by us, and they change. Ask and we will tell you what it is on the day you book.
How long can I keep the box?
That is set by the free time your shipping line allows on that container, and it varies by line and by contract. Past it the line charges detention. We book the empty return before the box lands so the clock is not running while somebody works out where the empty goes, and we will tell you the date the free time ends.
What is detention, and who pays it?
Detention is what the shipping line charges the importer for holding their container past the agreed free time. It is the line’s charge, not ours. If it lands on our invoice because we handled the return, it goes through at cost with the line’s own paperwork attached — never marked up, and never as an unexplained line item.
Do you do empty returns, and can you store the box?
Yes to both. An empty return is priced as a run in the same four zones. If your site is not ready, the box comes to our Hazelmere yard from $9 a day instead of sitting on a truck. Line detention keeps running while it is with us — that is between you and the line, and we say so before you agree to it.

Send us the box

Business hours, one of us picks it up inside the hour and comes back with the price and the slot. If it is urgent, ring — the phone is faster than any form.

Four letters and seven digits, e.g. MSKU 123456 7. Send the enquiry without it if the release has not come through.
