The studio

Small classes, big mirrors, a concert worth the sequins.

Studio Eleven is two rooms off the Lakeside end of Joondalup: Studio One with the long barre and the good light, Studio Two with the speakers that hip hop deserves. Classes cap at twelve for tots and sixteen for everyone else, so nobody hides in the back row for a term.

  • Teachers who teach. Working dancers and graded examiners, every one WWC-checked, every one on the floor — not at a desk.
  • One concert, in December. Every class gets a routine. The concert pack covers costume hire and two tickets; the rest of the family buys tickets like everyone else.
  • Terms follow the WA school calendar. Ten weeks, mid-term make-up classes, no classes on public holidays — and you're never charged for them.

Our five-year-old started tiny tots ballet in term one and now does an arabesque in the cereal aisle at Currambine Woolies. Miss Tash has her pointing her toes without being asked. Worth every dollar of the $150.

My daughter added contemporary to her ballet last year and choreographed her own solo for the concert. The teen classes treat them like dancers, not kids. The 10% for three classes made the third one easy to say yes to.

I hadn't tapped since 1998. Adult beginners on a Thursday night is now the one thing in my week nobody is allowed to book over. Sprung floor, patient teacher, zero judgement.

Questions we get at the desk

Fair questions, straight answers.

What age can my child start?

Three, in tiny tots — 30-minute ballet or jazz classes that are mostly rhythm, games and learning to follow a teacher. From six they move into juniors and every style opens up, including hip hop, tap and acro.

Do we need a uniform?

Yes for juniors and up — the uniform pack is $120 once (studio leotard or tee plus shorts) and lasts until they grow out of it. Tiny tots can dance in anything they can move in. Shoes are bought separately; we'll tell you exactly which ones so you don't buy the wrong pair.

How does the 10% multi-class discount work?

One dancer doing three or more classes a week gets 10% off the whole classes line for the term. It applies to the classes only — the concert pack, uniform pack and registration stay as they are. Tick three styles on the planner and you'll see the line appear.

Is the end-of-year concert compulsory?

No. Every class learns a routine, but performing is optional. If you're in, the concert pack is $85 per class — costume hire and two tickets per routine — and it's a toggle on the planner, not a surprise in week nine.

Can adults start from zero?

Yes — there's a beginner stream in every adult style (ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, tap). Most of our adult dancers either never danced or haven't since school. Try a class free first; nobody will make you go in the front row.

Is there a sibling discount, and what's the registration for?

A second dancer in the same family gets 10% off their classes — add them on the enrolment form and we price both. The $40 annual registration covers insurance and admin for the calendar year; it's on by default on the planner because most people pricing a term are new to us. Switch it off if you're a returning family.
