Dry hire means you drive. Every machine leaves the yard fuelled and greased, with the controls sheet in the cab and the yard number on the dash.

Rates are dry hire, GST inclusive. Weekend availability shown is the demo yard sheet. The 3+ day rate applies from day three; a week is 7 days' possession charged as 5.

1.7 t excavator
990 mm through a single gate, 2.4 m dig depth, blade for backfill. Pools, footings, stump-outs, soakwells.
Skid steer
Site cuts, sand spreading, rubble out. 4-in-1 bucket on the standard machine; forks by arrangement.
Mini loader + trencher pack
Walk-behind, side-gate friendly. 900 mm trencher for retic mains, power runs and strip footings.
Metro delivery
On the float by seven, picked up when you're done. Same flat rate Joondalup to Rockingham.
Damage waiver
Covers accidental damage to the machine, with an excess. Running your own cover? Bring the certificate of currency instead.

Booked the 1.7 tonner Friday, pool shell hole dug by Sunday arvo. Fit through the side gate with maybe a hand-width to spare, exactly like they said it would.

Do I need a ticket to operate an excavator?
On your own private property, WA doesn't require a licence or ticket to operate an excavator — but competency is on you: read the controls sheet in the cab, walk the site for services before you dig, and call Before You Dig Australia on 1100 first. On a construction site it's different — the principal contractor must verify operator competency, so check with your site super before you book.
What's the difference between wet and dry hire?
Dry hire is the machine only — you operate it. Wet hire comes with an operator and is priced by the hour, machine and driver together. Redgate is a dry-hire yard: you get the machine fuelled and greased, and the digging is yours. If the job really needs an operator, we'll say so and point you to a wet-hire operator we trust.
How does the $500 bond work?
It's a pre-authorisation on your card, not a charge — the bank holds it, we never take it. After off-hire we inspect the machine (usually same day), and the hold is released. It's not added to your hire total; you'll see it on the ledger as its own line at $0.
What does the damage waiver cover — and what doesn't it?
The $35-a-day waiver covers accidental damage to the machine itself, with an excess. It does not cover tyres and tracks, glass, damage from overloading or misuse, theft where the machine was left unsecured, or strikes on underground and overhead services — that's why you call 1100 before digging. Running your own plant cover? Skip the waiver and bring your insurer's certificate of currency to pickup.
What if it rains on my hire days?
Weather is part of earthworks — booked days are charged whether it rains or not, because the machine's off the board either way. But if the forecast turns before your hire starts, call by 3 p.m. the day prior and we'll move the dates at no cost. Mid-hire washouts on multi-day bookings: talk to us, we're reasonable.
Can you deliver same-day?
Often, if you book before 11 a.m. and a machine's in the yard — check the availability strip or call. Booked the day before, the machine is on the float by seven and on your verge before the trades arrive.
