“Mum only ever needed help with the shower. Three mornings a week and I stopped driving over before work. Same two carers for fourteen months now — she knows both their kids' names.”

    Where we go

    Perth's eastern and northern suburbs

We roster in tight rings around Bayswater so a carer isn't spending your hour in the car. If you're just outside the ring, ring us anyway — it depends on the day and who's already out that way.

Beyond the ring we still take the call — Noranda, Eden Hill, Caversham, Bellevue and Stratton are all inside a normal run. Anything further and we'll say so honestly rather than send someone who'll be late every week.

    Questions we get every week

    The honest answers

Do I need a My Aged Care assessment?

Not for private care. If you're paying privately we can start without one — you choose the roster and we invoice you.

For funded care, yes. Assessment comes through My Aged Care, the Australian Government's front door, and it leads to a support plan under the Support at Home program. We can't grant funding, guarantee it, or move you up a list — nobody in our industry can. What we can do is sit with you and start the referral, and we never charge for that.

    Can you start this week?

Privately, usually yes — often within two or three days, depending on the suburb and the hours. Nursing and overnight sleepovers sometimes take a week to roster properly, because we won't send someone who doesn't suit.

Funded care waits on the assessment and your plan. Plenty of families start privately for a few weeks and switch across once the funding lands.

Will it be the same carer every time?

That's the whole model. You get the same two or three people, so there's always a familiar face when someone's on leave. We don't run an agency pool and we don't fill shifts with strangers at 6am. If a match isn't working, tell us and we'll change it — no awkwardness, no charge.

What if she refuses the shower?

Then she doesn't have one that day. We work up to it — a wash at the basin, a chat, the same carer next time — and most people come round within a fortnight once they know the person. We don't force personal care, and we tell you honestly if it isn't going well rather than billing you for a fight.

    Can you give medication?

A carer can prompt — remind, bring the Webster pack, watch it get taken and note it. Administering medication, injections, wound care and anything clinical is a registered nurse's job, billed at the nursing rate. We won't blur that line, because it's the one that keeps people safe.

What happens after a hospital discharge?

Ring us before discharge if you can. We'll take the discharge summary, book a nurse for the first dressing or medication review, and put domestic help in for the first fortnight while everyone finds their feet. It's usually a heavier roster for two weeks and then it settles — and a week's notice drops it back.
