“Locked out at 11:40 on a Tuesday. Quoted $290 on the phone; the invoice said $290. Picked the lock in about ten minutes, no drilling, then waited while I checked the back door.”
“Settled on the rental Friday, rekeyed Monday. Three cylinders on the base price, two more at $25 each — exactly as quoted. Old keys dead by lunchtime, new set tagged for the property file.”
“Back door forced overnight. Boarded, rekeyed and trading by 9am. He also told me which two things were worth fixing — and the one thing that wasn’t worth the money.”
Victoria Park and the streets around it.
Based in Victoria Park, working the inner south-east every day and the wider metro when the job warrants it. At night, with the roads empty, we’re typically 20–40 minutes to any suburb on the map. Daytime, add Albany Highway traffic — we’ll give you an honest window when you call.
Outside the rings? Call anyway — if we can’t get there quickly we’ll say so and point you to someone closer.
The six questions we actually get asked.
How fast can you get here at night?+
Inside the service area, 20–40 minutes at night — the roads are empty and the van is stocked. Daytime is honest-traffic territory: we’ll give you a real window on the phone, not a “we’re five minutes away” that isn’t.
What does a lockout actually cost?+
Three bands, plainly: from $165 standard hours (7am–6pm), from $240 after hours (6pm–10pm), from $290 late night (10pm–6am). That covers getting there and getting you in through a standard residential lock. The price we say on the phone is the price on the invoice.
Should I rekey or replace after buying a place?+
Rekey, almost always. Your locks are probably fine — it’s the unknown keys floating around that are the problem. Rekeying keeps the hardware, cuts new keys, and kills every old one. From $180 for the callout and first three cylinders. We’ll only suggest replacing if the lock itself is worn out — and we’ll show you why.
Can you open it without drilling?+
Usually, yes. Picking is always the first tool out of the van. Drilling is the last resort — for some high-security cylinders or damaged locks it’s the only way, but you’ll hear that from us before we start, along with what the replacement lock costs.
Do you do car keys?+
No — and we’d rather tell you now than at your kerb. Modern car keys need transponder programming gear we don’t carry. We keep the numbers of two automotive specialists who do it well, and we’ll pass one on.
Are smart locks safe?+
The good ones, fitted properly, yes. A quality smart lock on a solid door is at least as secure as the deadbolt it replaced — the weak point is usually a cheap unit or a sloppy install. We supply and fit from $420, we only fit the ones we’d put on our own door, and we’ll say plainly which ones we won’t touch.
Rekeys, repairs and upgrades — booked, not rushed.

Thanks — request received.
