Client words

Demo reviews, written honestly.

Stillwater is a fictional clinic, so these are demonstration reviews — written the way real clients actually talk.

★★★★★

Four months of not being able to shoulder-check. Three sessions on the neck and upper traps, some very unglamorous chin-tuck homework, and I'm turning my head like it's nothing again.

Priya · Menora — neck & shoulders
★★★★★

Ninety minutes every second Friday through a sixteen-week marathon block. My calves were the reason I found Stillwater; they were also the only thing that didn't complain at the finish.

Dan · Inglewood — sports massage
★★★★★

Tapped my health-fund card on the way out and the HICAPS claim was sorted before I had my shoes back on. Paid the gap, walked home via Beaufort Street. Easiest admin of my week.

Marcus · Maylands — remedial, 60 min

Questions we actually get

Before you book.

What's the difference between remedial and relaxation massage?

Remedial massage starts with an assessment and treats a specific problem — a joint that won't move, tissue that won't let go — then re-tests to see what changed. Relaxation massage is a lovely thing, but it isn't what we do here. If you want an hour of quiet with no clinical agenda, a day spa will do it better than we will, and we'll happily say so.

What does dry needling involve? Does it hurt?

Very fine filament needles placed briefly into trigger points — you'll feel a dull ache or a small twitch rather than a sharp pain, and any post-treatment soreness usually settles within a day. It's always your call: we suggest it only where the tissue genuinely responds to it, and your session price simply adds $25 when we do.

How do health-fund rebates work?

Your fund sets your rebate — it depends on your fund, your level of cover and how much of your annual limit is left, which is why we never quote a rebate figure. What we do: process the claim through the HICAPS terminal on the spot, so you tap your fund card, the rebate comes straight off, and you pay only the gap before you leave.

What should I wear? How does draping work?

Wear whatever you like — you'll undress to your comfort level, and you're covered by towels the whole session with only the area being treated uncovered. For legs and sports work, shorts are handy. Nothing happens without your say-so, and "less pressure, please" is always the right thing to say out loud.

I've just injured myself — should I book in?

If it's acute — a fall, a tear, sudden sharp pain, numbness or swelling — see your GP or physio first. Massage in the first days after real trauma can do more harm than good. Where we shine is the stubborn stuff: the tension that's built over months, and recovery once the acute phase has passed. If you're not sure, call us and we'll tell you honestly which one you are.
