"Six months of morning heel pain, gone in eight weeks. The plan was exactly what the first visit said it would be — orthoses, three follow-ups, and I was back at parkrun by September."
Cadence Podiatry · Applecross · est. 2016
Foot & gait clinic in Applecross — heel pain, orthoses, kids & diabetic care.
Every step you take today, you'll take eight thousand more. Make them comfortable. We assess first and answer honestly — most ingrown nails don't need surgery, and plenty of feet don't need orthoses either. When yours do, we'll show you why.
Your first visit
Heel pain assessment
- History, hands-on assessment and a gait review on the plate
- Footwear check and same-day taping if it will help this week
- A plan in plain language — what it is, what fixes it, what it costs
Typical first six weeks incl. custom orthoses: $695 — follow-ups as clinically needed.
Eligible care-plan visits attract a Medicare rebate, set by Medicare — we show you the current schedule at booking.
Fees
Printed here, because you shouldn't have to ask.
Every appointment fee, before you're on the table. No item-number roulette, no surprise on the way out.
Initial assessment $135
45 minutes. History, hands-on assessment, gait review on the pressure plate, and a plan in plain language. Adults and kids.
Follow-up $95
30 minutes. Progress check, load and footwear adjustments, taping or padding as the plan needs.
Custom orthoses $560
Per pair — includes the 3D scan, fitting, and one review visit. Prescribed only when your feet will actually use them.
Ingrown nail surgery $440
One side, local anaesthetic, follow-up dressings included. We exhaust the simple fixes first — most ingrown nails never get this far.
Diabetic foot assessment $110
Annual check — circulation, sensation, skin and nails, with a written report for you and your GP.
Kids' gait assessment $135
Same initial fee. Intoeing, tip-toeing, tripping — most patterns settle on their own, and we'll tell you if yours will.
Appointments from $95. Eligible care-plan visits attract a Medicare rebate, set by Medicare — we show you the current schedule at booking. HICAPS terminal in the rooms for on-the-spot health-fund claims.
What patients say
Feet fixed. Words theirs.
"I put the ingrown nail off for two years because I expected to be talked into surgery. Instead I got taught how to save it. Two visits, no scalpel, wearing normal shoes again."
"Our five-year-old tripped over her own feet daily. One gait assessment, honest reassurance, a yearly check — she's walking straighter and we've stopped hovering."

Questions we get every week
Straight answers, before you book.
Do I need a referral?
No. Podiatrists are primary practitioners — book directly, today if there's room. The only time a referral matters is a GP care plan, which makes eligible visits Medicare-rebatable. If you have one, bring it; if you don't, you don't need one.
What should I bring to the first visit?
The shoes you wear most — including the scruffy ones — plus your sports shoes if you run or train. Wear or bring shorts so we can see your knees walk. Health fund card for HICAPS, care plan paperwork if you have it.
Custom orthoses or the $40 chemist insoles?
Honestly: chemist insoles are genuinely enough for some feet. A cushioned off-the-shelf insole can settle mild heel pain, and if we think that's you, we'll say so and you'll spend $40, not $560.
Custom orthoses earn their price when the problem is mechanical — a foot that collapses or loads one spot relentlessly. Ours are prescribed off a 3D scan of your feet doing the actual damage, and the $560 includes fitting and a review. The difference isn't the material, it's that they're built to your gait rather than an average of everyone's.
How many visits will this take?
Depends on the problem, and we'll estimate at the first visit rather than string you along. Typical plantar fasciitis: an initial assessment then two to four follow-ups over six to eight weeks. Ingrown nails: often one or two conservative visits — most don't need surgery. Kids' gait reviews are usually annual. If something isn't tracking, we say so and change the plan.
Medicare and health funds — what comes back?
Eligible care-plan visits attract a Medicare rebate, set by Medicare — we show you the current schedule at booking rather than quote a number that changes under us. Most extras-level health funds cover podiatry; our HICAPS terminal claims your rebate on the spot so you only pay the gap.
