Forty-eight seats out the front around twelve tables, and sixteen more down the back behind a door that actually shuts. It is a small restaurant run by people who are in it.
Everything comes off the fire
One wood oven and a grill. No second kitchen to hide behind, which is why the menu is short and why it moves.

Sixteen seats, its own door, its own speaker. No hire fee and no minimum spend Wednesday or Thursday — you just book it.

The figure on this page is the figure on the run sheet. Dietaries, a cake, a candle on it — none of that moves the per-head.

Where we are
On Scarborough Beach Road, walking distance from most of the suburb.
We are a neighbourhood restaurant and we behave like one. Most of the room walks in from within about a kilometre; the rest park on the side streets and stay for a second glass because they can.
Parking. Two hours free on the side streets after 5pm, and the shopping-centre car park two doors down is open until late. Nobody needs to move the car mid-main.

The things we get asked every week.
If yours isn't here, ring — the phone is answered by someone who is standing in the room.
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes. We hold the bar and two tables back every night for people who just turn up, and we will not give them away before 7pm. Everything else is bookable, and Friday and Saturday go early.
Can you do dietaries?
Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and most allergies, yes — tell us when you book and again on the night. Vegan works best on the two- or three-course menus rather than the banquet. Dietaries never change the per-head price.
Is the back room actually private?
It has its own door, its own speaker and its own service. Sixteen seats around two long tables. Wednesday and Thursday there is no hire fee and no minimum spend; Friday and Saturday we ask for a menu package so the kitchen can plan.
What is the minimum for a function?
There is no minimum at all for the back room midweek. For exclusive use of the whole room on a Friday or Saturday evening the minimum spend is $4,000 — the estimate at the top of this page tells you where a given night sits against it, and how many guests would reach it. Below that number you can still book, you simply share the floor with the rest of the restaurant.
Is there parking?
Two hours free on the side streets after 5pm, and the shopping-centre car park two doors along stays open late. Most of the room walks.
How far ahead should I book a function?
Three weeks is comfortable for the back room, six for the whole floor in November and December. If you are inside that, ring rather than fill in the form — sometimes there is a cancellation on the book.
