What days am I allowed to water?
On mains (scheme) water, Perth homes get two watering days a week, set by the last digit of your house number. On a bore it's three days. From 1 June to 31 August the winter sprinkler switch-off applies to both — sprinklers off, hand-watering beds is fine. We set your controller to your suburb's legal days before we leave; the roster is Water Corporation's, and fines are real. Their line is 13 13 75 if you want it from the source.
Why is one station dead when the rest run fine?
Nine times out of ten it's one of three things, in this order: a failed solenoid (about $28 in parts), a broken or corroded wire between the controller and the valve, or a controller output that's given up. We test in that order because that's cheapest-first — you'll see the multimeter reading before you see an invoice.
Mains or bore — which should I be watering from?
Honest answer: a bore pays for itself on big blocks — three watering days, no scheme water on the lawn, and the pump earns its keep. On a courtyard block it never will; the pump and maintenance cost more than the water you'd save. If you've already got a bore, we'll tell you whether it's worth reviving before we quote a pump.
Do you service systems you didn't install?
Yes — every brand, every era. Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro, Holman, K-Rain, the lot, including the beige mystery box the last owner left you. If the controller's worth keeping we'll say so; if it's costing you water we'll show you why.
What's the winter switch-off, exactly?
A real Water Corporation rule: from 1 June to 31 August, sprinklers stay off across Perth — mains and bore alike. Hand-watering beds with a trigger nozzle is fine. It's also the perfect window for our $140 winter tune: heads cleaned, arcs re-aimed, controller reprogrammed so day one of September just works.
How long does a new system take to install?
A day for most homes — trenching, pipe, valves, heads and the controller, with the lawn walked flat behind us. Big blocks or bore-and-system combinations can run to two. You get the legal watering days programmed in and every station labelled before we drive off.
