| New steel posts · 2 × $680, cored & concreted | $1,360 |
| Fixing points to structure · 2 × $140 | $280 |

Minimum job $1,700 applies — small sails still carry the engineering, the fittings and the crew, so this one bills at $1,700.

What we build · honest pricing
Sails, posts and fittings — priced the way we quote them
Every sail is made to measure in our Wangara workshop. Rates below are what the Shade Planner runs on; the free site measure confirms them.
Knitted shade-cloth sails
from $95/m² supplied & installed
95% UV block and rain-permeable, so it breathes on a 40-degree day. Made to measure, 10-year fabric warranty.
Waterproof PVC membrane sails
from $160/m² supplied & installed
Engineered for wind and rain load with a steeper pitch — dry outdoor living all year, not just summer shade.
New steel posts
$680 each, cored & concreted
Supplied, cored and concreted to engineering spec — galvanised or powder-coated to suit the yard.
Fix to existing structure
$140 a point
Engineered fascia and wall brackets where the house or a boundary wall can take the load — cheaper than a post, when it's right.
Re-tension & re-fit service
re-tensions from $240
Sails stretch — a seasonal re-tension keeps the drum-tight look and the wind rating. The $1,700 minimum job applies to new sails, not re-tensions.
Commercial structures
quoted on drawings
Car-park and school shade structures — spans and footings drive it, so we price from your drawings, not a rate card.
Demo reviews · written for this demonstration
The shade talks. Owners repeat it.
"Our alfresco faces dead west — it was unusable from 2pm. First summer with the sail up we ate dinner out there at 4 o'clock. First time ever."
Karen M · Duncraig
"The pool sail ended the sunscreen argument. The kids swim at midday, the water's cooler, and the crew set the posts without cracking a single paver."
Sam & Priya · Canning Vale
"Went with the driveway sail after pricing a carport. Car went from oven to fine — the cabin's noticeably cooler every single afternoon."

Frequently asked questions
Shade cloth or waterproof PVC — what does the extra $65/m² buy?+
Shade cloth ($95/m²) blocks 95% of UV and lets rain through, which keeps it cooler underneath and lighter on its fittings. PVC ($160/m²) is a waterproof membrane engineered for wind and rain load with a steeper pitch — the extra buys you a dry alfresco in July, heavier-gauge rigging, and year-round cover. If the job is summer sun, cloth wins. If it's outdoor living all year, PVC does.
What wind rating do your sails carry?+
Every sail is engineered for Perth's wind region A — posts, footings, brackets and wire are all sized to that spec, with marine-grade 316 fittings throughout. That's why we core and concrete posts rather than dyna-bolting them to paving, and why every fixing to your house is an engineered bracket, not a screw eye.
Do sails come down in winter?+
Honestly — cloth can, PVC stays. Shade-cloth sails unclip in about twenty minutes if you'd rather have winter sun on the alfresco, and many of our customers do exactly that. Waterproof PVC sails are engineered as permanent structures and are designed to stay up through winter — that's their whole point.
Posts or fixing to the house — what decides it?+
The structure decides. Where your fascia, a masonry wall or a boundary wall can take the engineered load, a $140 fixing point beats a $680 post. Where there's nothing to fix to — over a pool, mid-lawn, a driveway — we core and concrete a post. Most sails end up a mix: two points on the house, two posts in the yard. The site measure settles it corner by corner.
Why the $1,700 minimum job?+
A small sail carries almost all the cost of a big one: engineering, made-to-measure fabrication, 316 fittings, and a crew on site for the install. Below $1,700 those fixed costs aren't covered, so that's our floor for a new sail. The Shade Planner shows you exactly when it applies — most sails over about 3 × 4 m clear it on their own numbers. Re-tensions of existing sails (from $240) sit outside it.
