Switch-on stories

The moment the sign goes on

“We flicked the switch at six and I cried a bit, honestly. Three weeks from a serviette sketch to a lit fascia — and the council permit was their problem, not mine.”
Demi K. — café owner, Mount Lawley
“The ute doors pay for themselves every school pickup. Two jobs straight off the oval car park this term, and the phone number reads from three cars back.”
Shaun B. — electrician, Ballajura
“Three tenancies re-signed in one visit — one crew, one day, one invoice. The strip looks leased again, because it finally reads like it is.”
Marcus V. — strip landlord, Dianella

What owners ask us

How much is a shopfront sign?

Lightbox fascias are priced by the metre — from $850/lm, 600 mm deep, installed, minimum 2 m ($1,700). A typical 4 m café fascia lands at $3,400. Printed ACM runs from $320/lm if you don't need it lit, halo-lit acrylic letter sets start around $2,600, and window vinyl is from $190/m² installed. What moves the number: length, illumination, letter count, and how hard your wall fights the installer.

Do I need council approval?

Usually, yes. Most Perth LGAs licence shopfront signage — size, projection and illumination all trigger the rules, and every council's schedule reads a little differently. We draw the sign, lodge the permit and wait for the stamp before we cut anything. The shire's timeline is the honest lead time, and we'll tell you what your council typically takes.

How long from artwork to install?

Fabrication is usually five to ten working days once artwork is approved — the permit almost always takes longer than the build. A realistic shopfront timeline: artwork settled in week one, the permit in the council's hands for two to five weeks, then we fabricate and install the week after the stamp arrives.

Can you match my brand colours?

Close on vinyl, exact on paint. Printed and cut vinyl live inside the film maker's gamut, so a hot fluoro or a very specific corporate colour can land near rather than on. Painted and acrylic finishes we can mix to the swatch. Either way, you see the physical swatch and sign off before we print.

What lasts longest in WA sun?

Acrylic letters and cut vinyl are the long-haulers — a decade is normal. Printed-and-laminated vinyl fades honest at five to seven years here; unlaminated print goes chalky faster and we'd rather not sell it to a west-facing wall. We'll tell you which materials your artwork and your aspect actually want.

Do you design, or just make?

Both. Bring finished artwork and we'll fabricate it faithfully — or bring a logo, a colour and a serviette sketch, and our designer will draw the sign, show you the proof at real scale, and only cut once you're happy.
