Solar repairs · Perth

Your installer closed. Your system didn’t.

We repair, test and reconnect solar systems anywhere in Perth — any brand, any installer, including the ones who aren’t answering the phone anymore.

Diagnostic call-out $165, credited against any repair over $500 · we test before we quote — no new-system pitch until we’ve told you if yours is worth fixing.

Almost every “solar repairs” page in Perth belongs to an installer, and its job is to turn your call into a new-system sale. Ours doesn’t sell first — and plenty of 2010–2015 systems now have an installer who isn’t trading anymore.

Repair or replace

What fixing your inverter actually saves you

Installed prices, GST included. The small-scale certificate discount is already built in — there’s no separate rebate to chase.

System size

6–14 years: our usual repair window.

This 5 kW system: $1,590 to repair — $5,400 for the same thing new.

Replace the inverter. Keep the panels.

You keep $3,810 against a new like-for-like system — and every panel already on your roof stays exactly where it is.

Across every size we repair, that saving runs $3,550 to $5,450 — money we’re telling you not to spend on a new system, before you’ve asked.

How a repair happens

Four steps, and the quote comes before the ladder does.

Every job starts the same way, whoever originally put your system on the roof.

Book the diagnostic

$165, credited against any repair over $500. We come to you — no drop-off, no waiting room.

STEP 02

String test, every panel

Isolator, switchgear, inverter and each string tested in that order, so a fault gets found once, not guessed at.

STEP 03

Repair or replace, priced both ways

You get the inverter figure and the new-system figure on the same invoice, and our honest opinion of which one you need.

STEP 04

Reconnect the monitoring

So the next derating shows up on your phone months before it shows up on your bill.

Why Meridian

We’d rather sell you a $1,290 repair than a $5,400 system you don’t need.

We didn’t install it, so we’ll say so

Nothing above is a quote built to lead you to a new system — it’s our own rate card, on your own numbers, before you’ve given us a phone number.

Every brand, every era

2008 microinverters to 2024 hybrids — if it’s bolted to a WA roof, we’ve almost certainly already opened one.

Diagnostic first, always

Isolator, string, inverter, monitoring — tested in that order, in one visit, before any repair is ever booked.

49.46%

of WA households have rooftop solar — the highest share of any major grid in the world.

53.5%

of Greater Perth dwellings, specifically. A lot of those systems are now old enough to need us.

What customers say

Three systems, three different faults.

“Our installer’s number just stopped connecting a couple of years ago. Meridian found a blown isolator in twenty minutes and the whole job cost less than a call-out plus $340.”
Rooftop system, Ballajura
“They told me straight up that replacing our ten-year-old inverter made more sense than a new system, and printed the exact number they were turning down.”
Rooftop system, Noranda
“Our bill had crept up sixty dollars a quarter for two years and the inverter never once threw a fault. String testing found it in one visit.”
Rooftop system, Ellenbrook

Questions we get every week

The six a solar repair customer actually asks.

Can you work on a system you didn’t install?

Yes — any brand, any era. We repair systems from installers who are still trading and ones who closed years ago. The one thing we sometimes need to fix first is the isolator or switchgear itself, if it no longer meets the current wiring rules; we’ll tell you at the diagnostic if that applies.

We don’t need your original paperwork to start — a string test tells us everything the install records would have.

My inverter shows no fault, why is my bill up?

String inverters installed between 2010 and 2015 typically last ten to fourteen years, and they commonly derate 10–15% before ever throwing a fault code. The display keeps saying everything is fine because, technically, it is — it’s just producing a third less than it used to.

That is exactly what the full system health check is built to catch: string-by-string output measured against what the panels should be producing, not just an error log nobody has seen change.

Is my system still under warranty if the installer is gone?

Often, partly. Panel and inverter manufacturer warranties are generally held by the manufacturer, not the installer, and usually survive an installer closing. The installer’s own workmanship warranty on the wiring and mounting typically does not.

String testing tells you which parts of your system are still covered directly by a manufacturer you can actually contact, and we’ll say so on the invoice rather than guess.

Do you sell new systems too?

Yes — and here is when we’ll tell you not to buy one: if repairing your inverter gets you the “replace the inverter, keep the panels” verdict above, we say so, in writing, on the invoice. We only recommend a new system when the panels themselves are near the end of their own warranty, or when your system is small enough that the repair cost buys you very little.

What does the call-out cover?

A full string test, an isolator and switchgear check, inverter diagnostics, and a written verdict comparing repair against replacement — $165, credited against any repair over $500.

You get a number before you get a sales conversation. If the fix is a $340 isolator, that is what we quote.

How long does an inverter swap take?

Most swaps are a same-day job, typically two to four hours once the new unit is on site. You don’t need to be home for all of it — we isolate, swap, re-commission and reconnect the monitoring before we leave.

Panel replacements and switchgear upgrades are usually quicker again; a full new system is the only job on this page that runs to more than a day.

Book a diagnostic

Send us your system. We’ll ring you back with a date.

The diagnostic is $165, credited against any repair over $500 — not a free foot in the door.

We ring back inside one business day, and the call is about your system, not a booking for a sales visit. If a new system genuinely suits you better, we’ll say so before we come out.

In a hurry? Ring (08) 9000 0187 — Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm.

Carrying your estimate: 5 kW, inverter at 11 years — repair $1,590 vs new system $5,400, saving $3,810.
