We bill a 4 m² minimum. Under it a laundry top prints the 4 m² price, and we are probably not your cheapest quote.

$1,116 separates the granite from the sintered stone on this kitchen. The granite is the one we would put in a rental, and we would rather sell you that.
2.8 m² is billed at our 4 m² minimum, so it prints the same total as 4.0 m². A laundry top still takes a template, a slab, a truck and two people — that is what the floor pays for, and a small local shop will very likely beat us on it.
The 40 mm mitre adds $744 on this area. It is priced per square metre, not per lineal metre, because the mitre is folded from the same slab.
Waterfall ends are grain-matched across the mitre, so the vein runs down the leg. $480 each.

Low-silica quartz
from $620 /m²The reformulated generation. Slabs held in the Bibra Lake yard, so a straight kitchen can be templated the same week.
Natural granite
from $680 /m²Quarried, so no two slabs match. Come and mark the one you want before the saw touches it.
Porcelain
from $780 /m²Thin, hard, and it will take a hot pan. Wants a fabricator who cuts it weekly — the edges are unforgiving.
Sintered stone
from $860 /m²Large format, so a long run can land with one join or none. The dearest thing we cut.

How a benchtop happens
Four visits, and only one of them is ours to get wrong.
Cabinets in, template, cut, install. The measure is free and it is where the whole job is decided.

Free template measure
We come to the house once the cabinets are set and laser-template the real openings — not the plan, which is always 8 mm out somewhere.
STEP 02
You mark the slab
For granite and the big-format stones you pick the actual slab in the yard. We photograph where each piece falls before we cut.
STEP 03
Cut, mitre, polish
Our bridge saw and CNC in Bibra Lake. Sink cutouts are done wet on the bench, where a chipped edge is a scrap piece and not your kitchen.
STEP 04
Install and silicone
Old top lifted and carted, new top set, joins glued and colour-matched, sink sealed. We leave with the offcuts.

One workshop, no subcontracting
The saw is ours and it is in Bibra Lake. When a join lands somewhere you do not want it, you are talking to the person who cut it.
We say what a stone is bad at
Porcelain will take a hot pan and chip on a dropped tin. Granite wants sealing. Nobody who only sells one material will tell you that.

What replaced engineered stone?
Since 1 July 2024 the use, supply and manufacture of engineered stone benchtops, panels and slabs has been prohibited across Australia, and from 1 January 2025 they also became prohibited imports. The prohibition does not cover porcelain or sintered stone products, provided they contain no resin. That is Safe Work Australia's wording, not ours.
What we cut today is four things: reformulated low-silica quartz, natural granite, porcelain and sintered stone. All four are priced above on your own area. We are fabricators — we will not give you legal advice, and we will not tell you what any other supplier does or does not still hold.
Can my old benchtop be lifted and reused?
Almost never, and it is worth knowing why before you pay anyone to try. A stone top is glued to the cabinets and to itself at the joins, and the sink cutout has already removed most of the material that gave it strength. Lifting one whole takes two people, a vacuum lifter and a good deal of luck, and if it cracks it cracks at the sink.
If the tops are sound and the kitchen layout is not changing, the honest advice is usually to leave them and spend the money on doors. We will say so at the measure.
How long does it take from template to install?
On a standard kitchen we work to 10 to 14 days between the template measure and the install, and we book the install date at the template so you can put your plumber and sparky in the diary behind it. That is our own commitment, not an industry figure.
Big-format sintered and anything with mitred waterfall ends sit at the long end of that, because the mitre is cut, folded, glued and then polished as one piece before it leaves the workshop.
What does a join look like, and where will it fall?
A join is a glued butt with colour-matched adhesive. In quartz and sintered you will find it with a fingernail before you find it with your eye; in a busy granite it disappears into the grain.
Where it falls is a decision, not an accident, and we make it with you at the template. Standard practice is to put a join at a corner or beside a cooktop, never through a sink cutout and never in the middle of a clear run if the slab is long enough to avoid it. Sintered stone comes in the biggest sheets, which is often the whole argument for paying more for it.
Why does an undermount sink cost more than a drop-in?
A drop-in sink sits on top and hides its own cut, so the hole only has to be roughly right. An undermount hangs beneath the stone, which means the cut edge is the visible edge of your sink: it gets machined, polished to the same finish as the front of the benchtop, and drainer grooves are cut wet on the bench if you want them.
That is a separate machining operation on a separate setup, and it is $290 whichever material you pick.
Who removes the old top?
We do, on install day, and it is in the price for a standard single-level kitchen — lifted, carted and disposed of, with the offcuts from your new top going with it.
Two things we will flag rather than surprise you with: if the old top is tiled onto a bed that has to come off the cabinets, that is extra hands and we tell you at the measure; and disconnecting the plumbing and the cooktop is your plumber and your sparky, booked around the install date we set at the template.
