Structural engineers · Victoria Park
Your builder needs an engineer. Here’s the fee and the date.
Residential and small commercial engineering across the Perth metro — every job on this page carries a price and a turnaround.
Two engineers and a drafter. Reg. PE0000 · ABN 00 000 000 417 · residential and small commercial only.
- A fixed fee in writing before we start. Not an hourly rate and an apology on the invoice.
- Site attendance is inside the price. One of the two engineers, not a subcontractor.
- Proposals go out the same afternoon when the enquiry lands before 3pm on a working day.

What we do and what it costs
Six jobs, six prices.
Every fee below is a from price for a normal job of that kind. If yours is not normal we will say so in writing before we start, not on the invoice.
-
Patio and shed footing certification
$390 · 3 business days
Your kit plan checked, a footing and post-fixing detail drawn, and a certificate your surveyor can lodge.
-
Footing or slab inspection and certificate
$460 · 3 business days
We stand in the open excavation before the pour, write up what we saw and certify it.
-
Beam over a removed wall
$680 · 5 business days
The job we do most. Site attendance, the computations, a certified drawing and the engineer’s certificate.
-
Retaining wall design
$850 · 7 business days
Stem, footing and drainage designed for your ground and your boundary, drawn in section and elevation.
-
Crack investigation report
$1,150 · 10 business days
A survey of the cracking with levels and photographs, a written cause, a remedy and a monitoring plan.
-
Full second-storey structural set
$2,400 · 15 business days
Footings, walls, floor and roof for an addition over an existing house, issued as one coordinated set.
Priority is $280 on any of them and halves the turnaround, rounded up to the next whole day. On a shed certificate that buys you one working day; on a second-storey set it buys you seven. We will tell you which one you are.
How the job runs
Four steps, and you know the price at step one.
Most people reach us halfway through a renovation, on the day a builder or a building surveyor said the word “engineer”. That is a bad day to be told to wait for a quote.
-
01
Send the job
A photo of the wall, a sketch on the back of an envelope, or your designer’s PDF. Whatever you have is enough to start.
-
02
Fee proposal, same day
A fixed fee and a date in writing before we open a drawing. Enquiries in before 3pm on a working day go out that afternoon.
-
03
We attend site
One of the two engineers, not a subcontractor. We measure what is there and photograph what is hidden before we design anything.
-
04
Drawings and certificate
Computations, a certified drawing and the engineer’s certificate, issued as a set your surveyor and your builder can both work from.
What people say
Three of the people who send us work.
“Our builder stopped work because the wall we wanted out was holding the roof. Tandem were on site the next morning and the certificate landed inside the week. The price they quoted was the price on the invoice.”
“I send them four or five jobs a year and I have never had to chase one. They tell my client the fee themselves, which saves me a conversation I hate having.”
“They read a plan properly. I get the set back marked up with what actually needs to change rather than a list of everything that could theoretically be wrong.”
These reviews are demonstration copy written for this page. They are not real customers and they are not marked up as review data.
Where we work
Victoria Park out, right across the metro.
We are ten minutes from the freeway, so most of the metro is a morning. Anything past Mandurah or Bullsbrook we still do — we just add the travel to the proposal and tell you before you agree to it.

Questions we get every week
Answered plainly, including the one we cannot answer.
If the answer you need is not here, ring the office. Nobody will try to book you in for something you do not need.
Do I need an engineer to take this wall out?
We are not the people who decide that. Your building surveyor or your local government decides whether the work needs engineering and what has to be lodged with it — ask whoever is issuing your building permit. What we can tell you is what we would need to look at: whether anything bears on the wall above, what is in the roof space over it, and what is under the floor at each end. Send a photo and we will tell you honestly whether you need us.
What do you need from me to start?
The address, a photo or two of the wall or the ground, and any plan you already have — a builder’s sketch, a designer’s PDF, a set of DWGs, or nothing at all. If a builder or a designer is already involved, give us their name and we will deal with them directly instead of using you as a relay.
Do you come to site?
Yes, on every job on this page except a patio or shed footing certification, which we normally work from your kit plan without attending. Site attendance is inside the fee — it is not a separate call-out line that appears later.
Who signs the drawings and the certificate?
One of the two engineers in the practice, who has stood on the site. We do not sign work someone else designed. Reg. PE0000 on this page is a placeholder pattern, because this is a demonstration site and printing a real registration number here would be dishonest.
Can you work from my building designer’s plans?
That is most of what we do. Send the architectural set as a PDF or DWG and we will mark up what has to change structurally and issue our own drawings to sit alongside it. If the designer wants to talk to us directly, better still.
What if the builder changes something mid-job?
One revision inside the same scope is in the fee — a beam that has to move a few hundred millimetres, a post that lands somewhere else. A genuine re-design gets a new fee in writing before we touch it. You will never get an invoice with a line on it you have not already agreed to.
Why publish the fee at all?
Because the alternative is what everyone else does, and it wastes both our afternoons. The fees here cover a normal job of each kind. A wall in a double-brick 1950s house with a raked ceiling and a hidden truss is not a normal job, and we will tell you that in the proposal — not after the drawings are done.
Get a fee proposal
Tell us the job. We’ll send a fee and a date.
This is the fastest way to reach us. Enquiries in before 3pm on a working day get a written fee proposal the same afternoon; anything later goes out the next morning.
If you would rather talk it through, ring (08) 9000 0417 — one of the two engineers answers, not a call centre.
That is enough to price it.
Thanks — a written fee proposal will be with you the same afternoon.
- A fixed fee and a date, in writing, before any work starts.
- If we think you do not need an engineer, we will say so and charge you nothing.
- If the job is not a normal one, the proposal says why before you agree to it.
This is a demonstration page. Nothing was sent, nothing was stored, and no one will call you.

Tandem Structural is not a real practice — the page is. The thing that makes it work is not the drawing: it is that a frightened homeowner can read a fee and a date in eight seconds without giving up their phone number. Most engineering sites in Perth will not do that, and that is the whole opportunity. We would build yours the same way.
