William Street, Northbridge

Custom tattoo studio in Northbridge — drawn for you, once.

A private studio for the first piece you've carried around as a screenshot for two years, the collector booking her next sitting, the name that needs to become something else, and the pair who want matching fine-line. Pick the placement, size and style on the map, read the price off the booking card, then ask us for a consult.

    Reviews

    Three chairs, in their words

My first one. I'd built it up for years and it didn't hurt anywhere near what I'd braced for — Jess told me the forearm was the easy spot, talked me through every pass and stopped whenever I asked. Two hours, and I sat there wishing it was bigger.

    Priya, Mount Lawley — palm-size fine-line, forearm

Had an ex's name on the ribs for eleven years. Marco drew a magpie over it in one consult, and you genuinely can't find the letters now. Cost more than the original, worth ten times more.

Dean, Victoria Park — cover-up, blackwork, ribs

Matching fine-line pieces, side by side, same afternoon. They redrew our reference so the two actually belonged together instead of just being copies. Both healed clean, both still sharp a year on.

Hannah & Tom, Fremantle — matching fine-line, inner forearms

    Where we are

One studio on William Street, clients from all over the metro

Blackwattle is a destination studio: nobody drops in for a tattoo on the way past. Most clients come from the inner city and the near suburbs, and a good few drive up from Fremantle or across from the eastern suburbs for a particular artist. Northbridge is a ten-minute walk from Perth station and there's parking behind the Cultural Centre.

    Questions

What people ask before they book

    How much does it hurt?

Honestly, it depends on the spot. Ribs and feet are the sharpest; the outer forearm and outer thigh are the easiest. Most people say it's a hot scratch that fades into background noise after twenty minutes. We take breaks whenever you want them, and a fed, rested, sober client feels far less than a nervous one on an empty stomach.

How do I book, and what's the deposit?

Send the form below or ring the studio. We'll book a free 20-minute consult, and to lock in your sitting we take a $100 deposit — it comes straight off the price of the sitting. Reschedule with 48 hours' notice and it carries over.

Can I bring my own design?

Yes — bring the reference, the screenshot, the sketch on the napkin. We'll redraw it so it's yours: sized to your placement, cleaned up so it heals well, and not a copy of somebody else's tattoo.

How old do I have to be?

Eighteen, with photo ID, no exceptions — that's the WA skin penetration rules and we don't bend them for a parent's signature.

How do I look after it?

Wrap off after a few hours, wash gently with plain soap, pat dry, a thin layer of the cream we give you two or three times a day. No sun, no swimming, no soaking for two weeks. Full aftercare sheet goes home with you and lives on your phone.

Do you do walk-ins? What about sleeves and removal?

Walk-ins are for flash days only — flat-priced on the day, with the sheet posted the week before. Otherwise everything is by appointment. Sleeves, back pieces, large cover-ups and hand-poke are quoted at consultation as a whole project; we don't do laser removal but we'll point you to a clinic we trust.

    Book a consult

Tell us the idea and where you want it. We'll ring you to set a consult.

    • The consult is free and takes twenty minutes — bring your reference, or just the idea.
    • Your placement, size and style from the map come across with the request, so we're drawing from the first phone call.
    • Sleeves, back pieces and big cover-ups are planned as a project across sittings — say so and we'll book a longer consult.

We'd call or text you back within one business day, from a Northbridge number, with a consult time and the artist we think fits the piece. Prefer text? Say so and we'll never ring.
