We quote before we treat. If a procedure is likely to change once we're underway — dentals often do — we phone you mid-procedure before anything is added. No surprise invoices, ever.
After hours, honestly
We're a day practice and we won't pretend otherwise. Outside our hours we'll answer if we can — but a genuine emergency shouldn't wait on a maybe. Go straight to a 24-hour animal emergency hospital and call them ahead so they're ready when you arrive.
Save your nearest 24-hour hospital's number in your phone tonight. It's a two-minute job you'll be glad of once in your pet's life.
From the waiting room
"We turned up with an eight-week-old spoodle and a hundred questions. Dr Ivy wrote the whole first year on one page — vaccinations, desexing, what it would all cost. Nothing we've been billed since has been a surprise."
"My cat used to yowl from the car park to the consult table. The cat-only morning changed everything — quiet room, no dogs, vet sat on the floor and let her come out of the carrier in her own time. First visit in years without a scratch."
"When our fourteen-year-old kelpie started fading, they never once sold us false hope. Dr Sam talked us through what each option would actually buy her, in comfort not months. We got a gentle last summer together. That honesty is rare."

Where we are
We're a neighbourhood clinic on the Cambridge Street strip in Wembley — most of our patients walk in from the suburbs on this map. If you're further out you're still welcome; you'll just pass three other vets to get here, and we'll be worth it.

Fair questions
A standard consult is from $98 — that's a proper 20 minutes with the vet, an examination, and a plain-language plan. If anything beyond the consult is needed (bloods, imaging, a procedure) we quote it in writing before going ahead.
All the time, and we plan for it. Cats get a separate quiet consult room and cat-only consult times on Tuesday and Thursday mornings — no dogs in the waiting room. For anxious dogs, ask about a quiet-slot booking and pre-visit medication; honestly, some pets do need it, and it makes the visit kinder for everyone.
Yes — we take VetPay and Zip alongside the usual cards. One ask: talk to us before the bill, not after. If cost is a factor we'll build the treatment plan around it openly — there's almost always a staged option, and we'd rather plan it with you than surprise you.
Honest answer: we're a day practice. We'll answer if we can, but at 2am go straight to a 24-hour animal emergency hospital and call ahead so they're ready for you. We pick up the follow-up care the next morning, records and all.
Because the disease lives under the gum line, and no awake animal tolerates probing and x-rays there. "Anaesthesia-free" cleans polish the visible crown and leave the actual problem behind — which is why we don't offer them. Our dentals (from $550) include pre-anaesthetic checks, and any extractions are phoned through to you for approval before we proceed.
Limited ones, honestly. We keep a small number of home-visit slots for end-of-life care and for pets who genuinely can't travel — they book out fast and cost more than a clinic visit. For most things, the clinic is better: proper lighting, equipment and a second pair of hands. Call us and we'll tell you straight which one your situation needs.
